Dr. Alexander J. Sweidan, MD, FACP is a board-certified Pulmonologist, Critical Care, and Neurological Critical Care physician with advanced training in Interventional Pulmonary Disease via CAQ. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Medical University Karola Marcinkowskiego and completed his internal medicine residency at UCLA–St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, followed by fellowship training in Pulmonary, Critical Care, Neurological Critical Care, and Interventional Pulmonary at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He has been practicing internal medicine since 2014 and pulmonary medicine since 2017.
Dr. Sweidan’s clinical philosophy centers on a holistic, patient-centered approach to pulmonary care, recognizing that lung disease often intersects with cardiology, rheumatology, neurology, and gastroenterology. His clinical interests include lung cancer, COPD, and pulmonary hypertension, with a strong emphasis on personalized care and multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is fluent in English, Romanian, Spanish, and Polish, allowing him to connect deeply with a diverse patient population.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sweidan is actively involved in research and academic medicine, with more than 100 poster presentations and 50+ peer-reviewed publications indexed on PubMed. His scholarly contributions span a wide range of topics in pulmonary and critical care medicine, including pulmonary embolism, COVID-19, rare pulmonary diseases, and advanced ICU monitoring. He regularly presents at local, national, and international meetings and remains committed to advancing pulmonary care through innovation and evidence-based practice.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Sweidan values family life and enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is passionate about chess, fitness, and soccer. He is also deeply committed to community service, volunteering regularly at an underserved clinic where he provides both primary and pulmonary care, with a special focus on supporting non-English-speaking populations.
