About Antonio J. Covarrubias, MD

Antonio J. Covarrubias, M.D. is a Vascular Surgeon who treats the full spectrum of vascular diseases such as peripheral arterial disease, chronic venous insufficiency / varicose veins, limb wounds, aortic aneurysms, carotid disease and provides dialysis access. He is double board-certified in both general and vascular surgery.

Born in Mission Viejo, California, Dr. Covarrubias moved to Argentina with his family, when he was eight years old, where he grew up and studied medicine. After graduating medical school, he returned to the United States to complete his training in General Surgery at Loma Linda University and Vascular Surgery Fellowship at UC San Diego Health. He utilizes the latest technologies to treat vascular conditions using minimally invasive procedures, when appropriate.

Prior to joining the Vascular Program at Hoag, Dr. Covarrubias led a private practice in Orange County. He is passionate about helping patients feel better while providing a superior patient experience. His approach to patient care is that he treats his patients as he would treat his own family.

Dr. Covarrubias is fluent in Spanish and resides in Orange County. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his wife, daughter and son. He is very passionate about sports mainly soccer, but also golf, tennis and snowboarding.
