Dr. Mangonon grew up in Long Beach and was surrounded by medicine at an early age, both of her grandparents were physicians. By learning about their professions, it piqued Dr. Mangonon’s interest and her grandmother, an internal medicine physician, served as her inspiration to pursue a career in medicine.
Dr. Mangonon has always enjoyed working with kids and has worked with children in a variety of settings, including as a teacher in an after-school program, a camp counselor, and a nanny. Pediatrics allows her to practice her love for medicine along with her love for kids which is a fantastic combination! According to Dr. Mangonon, “I enjoy being able to watch kids grow up and experience every stage of life with them and their parents. It’s extremely rewarding that they trust me to care for them. As we grow together, our relationship grows as well. Before we know it, each visit feels like catching up with an old friend.”
Dr. Mangonon focuses on being relatable, approachable and down to earth when working with her patients and their families. As a mom to a young child, she can relate to new parents well and aims to be open and develop a bond with each family.
She received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her residency, and served as Chief Resident, at University of California, Irvine / Children’s Hospital of Orange County. She works with children of all ages and happily accepting new patients.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Mangonon enjoys her time away from the office with her husband, daughter and dog as well as eating desserts, specifically anything chocolate!
